4 Memes to the Wind Part III: The Saga of the Rockin’ Girl Blogger

July 27, 2007 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Blogging, Gratitude, Memes, Minnesota Me 3 Comments

rockin’ (adj.) Something that’s really cool. Something / someone can be regarded as “rockin’ ” if it is / they are as cool as rock (music)

Well, having been nominated for a Rockin’ Girl Blogger award by three of my sweetie pie friends, I am (reluctantly, but finally) responding in kind.

I say reluctantly because…well…I’d thought my rockin’ days had ended in my freshman year of college, when I quit the band to focus on my studies! One can only sing so many Pat Benatar covers and still get C’s. ; )

In any case, I am sure that Roberta had the best of intentions in designing this award (as did saucygrrl, in her…well, very saucy decision to update the icon.)

And so it is with the best of intentions that I pass it on.

Don’t you just hate choosing, though? I love you all (insert a big European kiss on both cheeks here) and yet, for the love of simplicity I simply cannot list you all. (You’ll have to refer to my cute new “Links I Like” button for that.)

Here, then, is a full-house of some of my favorites: Laura, Laura, Jen, Jen, and Jen.

I don’t know if any of you have been nominated already—I tried to pick “girls” who hadn’t —but if you have (and are avoided this nomination like the plague), I apologize. This tagging thing is fun but tricky.

  • Laura at …and if not… has been my younger, wiser friend for several months now, ever since I begged, pleaded, cajoled and bribed her to help me with my template. Being a great big sweetie pie, she agreed. She is young and fun and a deep thinker. Time spent at Laura’s is time well spent.
  • Laura at laurathecrazymama is a lot like Minnesota Me, I think (no offense, Laura): goofy and playful and perhaps a bit off-putting to those who don’t really know us. It’s in our blood to be slightly obnoxious, though—and therefore, it’s in our blog. Laura has lots of loveable little rug rats, like myself, and–unlike myself–she has one on the way! Hooray! Oh, and did I mention she’s from Minnesota? 🙂
  • Jen at Nestled in the Woods is the real McCoy. She is humble and honest and soul-searching. Her blog has a bit of the Saint Augustine in it, and a fair share of St. Thérèse. I love Jen’s simplicity; I love Jen.
  • Jen at Daughter of the King is like Laura of …and if not.. : she is also very young, (no offense, Jen, but I’m like, 40), very fun and very Catholic. I’m excited to see such zeal for the Church and I love to see blogs like this one. We are taking over the Internet, Ladies! One. Catholic. Blog. At. A. Time.
  • And last but never, never least, I would like to honor my dear friend and former fellow Friday’s employee, Jen. She has a blog but it’s not yet public. She also has her hand’s full (Hmm…I’ve heard that before) and for that, she has my love. Jen is the young mother of six children ages 7 and under (is John Paul 8 yet, Jen? I forget), including a set of twin baby boys now crawling. She recently found out she’s been blessed yet again and I tease her (at the same time that I pray for her), saying: you are one fertile gal, my friend!

So there you go: my five nominations for the Rockin’ Girl Blogger award. If a shout-out will get them an extra prayer today to assist them in their rockin’ girl blogger duties, well, then, thanks be to God for that. Break out the six-pack (of sparkling water) and let’s go.

🙂 YAY! I’m off-putting AND rockin’! Heehee, I know what you mean, I’m just teasing. Hey, the other day I was talking to a friend and was stating my opinion about something and she laughed kind of nervously and basically said, “Laura, you really do tell it like it is, don’t you?”. I said, “Yeah, it’s a wonder I have any friends AT ALL!”.

But, I would hate to have friends who kissed my butt and told me yes, you look good in those jeans instead of man, your butt makes those pockets look so small! Know what I mean?
Laura’s Golden Rule (it’s really more of a guideline): Insult others only as much as you would tolerate them insulting you. Heehee!

Thanks so much for the nomination! I am blushing…never been nominated for much of anything, even on field day in grade school did I win anything. So, you made my day my friend. St. Augustine and St. Therese are dear friends of mine. The sinner converted, the hypersenstive gal who grows up and becomes a Doctor of the Church. Love them, and hope they get me to the final destination.

And tell your girl Jen, with the kiddos under eight and preggo again that I am praying for her. My four came in five years, and sometimes I wondered if I could actually hear my uterus saying, “I need a break please!”
