8 Things About Me & My Hubby
- I am four-and-a-half years older than my husband. (Cradle robber!) Feeling very self-conscious about this fact the first time I met his mother, who is about the same age as my sisters, I kept alluding to my advanced age without admitting it. Finally, my dear mother-in-law-to-be couldn’t take it any longer. Arching an eyebrow and leaning over the counter, she demanded, “Well, just how old are you, anyway?” We’ve laughed about this ever since, and a good thing, too, because I will always be older than her son.
- We met at my best friend’s wedding. I was the maid of honor and he was a lowly usher. Knowing that he had to make an impression—and fast—he threw a bag of birdseed across a crowded dance hall and conked me in the head (not really). We were married one year later to the day.
- Politically, my husband and I are on the exactly the same page. Remember Catholics against Kerry? He started that. (I was so proud.)
- My husband is absurdly smart when it comes to all things left-brain. For example, his score on the LSAT was one of the highest in his group. Grammatically, though, I whup his asterisk.
- Having said that, my husband is still my all-time favorite editor. (Karen E. is my second favorite.) He can take a rough draft and red-line it like nobody’s business. I grumble and pout and then go to work on all the changes.
- My husband couldn’t remember a date to save his life. He has been known to ask, “When is Halloween again?” We refer to me as his stay-at-home secretary. I remind him of all the incidental events like his mother’s birthday (and mine) and weekend outings. He does all the books, though, and so I’m happy as a clam about the arrangement.
- We are polygamists, as you will see from the following photo.
Just kidding! We do tend to look a little clannish when we get together with our friends, however. Don’t you agree?
- We have been married 11 and a half years. I look at my husband and children daily and murmur an interior prayer of Thank You. I can’t imagine life without them.
I am now supposed to tag 8 other people but do you know what? It’s summer! Let’s ditch the “supposed to’s” and head outside! : )

Cradle robbing runs in our family, too. I’m 2 years older than my husband; my mom is 4 years older than my dad; my sister-in-law is 8 years older than my brother!
I love it when we get together with our friends and see how vastly outnumbered we are by all our beautiful children…we’re all in our (late) 20’s and most of us have 2-4 kids with more on the way. Great picture!
