Feeling less than hallow? Fake it!

October 31, 2014 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Minnesota Me, Special Events, Spiritual Growth 6 Comments

I get that you’re busy so I’ll keep this quick. Don’t forget to change your clocks this weekend!

You’re welcome.

Also, though, since you’re here…

.: Have a happy Halloween! :.

Wait, what’s that I hear? You’re feeling pressured to make it a perfect day?

Me, too.

We painted pumpkins! I’m doing well!

And I really dislike that part of Halloween.

The pressure to carve the perfect pumpkin…

The pressure to find the perfect costume…

Stuff from the dress-up box! It’s tried and true!

The pressure to proctor the candy so it’s not poisoned…

(Not really on that last one. I just liked the alliteration.)

I’m participating in the Teal Fingernail Project this year.

Anyway, forgot all that. I’m here to tell you (as God and my kids are my witness) to stop. Just stop. Step away from whatever’s giving you grief–be it the “perfect” costumes on Pinterest, the “perfect” treats that you didn’t make, or (in my case) the fear that your kids are heathens for liking this holiday so SO much–and just rest in Him Who is the source of peace.

That Reese’s Peanut Cup is a source of peace, too, but its peace isn’t lasting. You can TRUST ME on that.

Have fun with the kids because today IS fun, and don’t feel like you gotta impress anyone but Him. That was my take-away from this morning’s prayer which is good ’cause I was feeling a ton of pressure.

Now go make some memories! Go out and be a saint.

Thanks…my kids needed this šŸ™‚ and so did I. I was just gonna skip the whole darn thing – as in can't do it well enough don't do it. Apparently I thought I had too much on my plate (to be a mom šŸ™ ). Just bought some candy and the kids are pulling together costumes and we'll hit the 7-8 houses in our area, throw in a movie, and hand candy out to the 10 or so kids who will venture this way šŸ™‚ …and you know…the kids are thrilled šŸ™‚

We must have been having ESP, because I just "let it go, let it go…"

I needed this! Where the four older ones do their own pumpkins, it's the stress and $$ behind the costumes that make me a lady dressed in black on a house room ready to launch in my house! .

It's the hyper activity that drives me crazy!!

At any rate, thank you for this post!
