100 Hearts

February 1, 2013 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Gratitude, Minnesota Me 10 Comments

Or…How good it feels to finally see February.

Hearts II

January was a long, hard month. The depression hit on Christmas Eve—Christmas Eve! Can you believe it?—and by Epiphany Sunday, it was clear that I needed to talk to my doctor.

Ask my husband. Ask my best friend. Ask my kids. Ask me!

We can talk about that later if you want. Long story short, I have since returned to being a happy &  productive homeschoolin’ momma. (Yay!) The days may be short but my moods, thank goodness, are not.

Well, if they are they do not stay that way. I am human, after all. I got six seven kids. I get impatient.

And look at the beautiful brand new page on my calendar! (see above) How could I not be cheerful looking at all that…red all the time? Seeing “red” is a good thing when we’re talking hearts and crockery.

“100 hearts would be too few,” it reads, “To carry all my love for you.”

Smarmy? Nuh-uh.

Hearts I

Not after all that we’ve been through.

Hearts IV

Not when we’re coming up on a year’s unemployment and this trust & this hope & these loves see me through.

Hearts III

Yes, that’s loves in the plural. If you’re a mother, you know what I mean.

The love is in the little details—the smiles, the snowflakes, (it’s snowing right now!), the six-week-old.

Hearts V

Yes, little Nickers is six weeks old!

Can you believe it?

Six weeks old…already.

Hooray for a happy healthy post-partum mama who got help when she needed it!

Has it really been a year of unemployment? Really?

    That baby of yours. Nummy.

So glad you are feeling well! Great picture of the two fair headed ones together. The last picture is completely edible.

We faced unemployment about five months before your family. My husband just received an offer two weeks ago from a company that he has been a private contractor for for the last six months. We are so very blessed. I have lifted up your employment situation in prayer every morning since you shared your situation.I will continue to pray and hope for you all. May God bless you and keep you. I am so glad that you are feeling better!!

You are not alone! The January funk hit me too, and I am not post-partum.

Tracy, thank you. And I owe you a phone call! It was a busy (highly distracted?) weekend and I apologize for not getting back to you.

Will you share your doctor's recommendation? I'm trying to decide whether I need medical help for myself. Thank you.

I've been taking 20 mg. of Prozac/day and that's done the trick. I will pray for your discernment! Also, I plan to write more about this subject later this week (God willing) so keep an eye out for that. It's not always an easy decision but I think talking to your doctor is an important first step!

    I am so glad you are feeling better Margaret! I love having my babies but that sadness that always hits later is just hard on everyone. I will pray for St. Joseph's intercession today for your family's job search. {Oh, and are you job hunting in SD because we sure would love to have ya. 🙂 We are in the North-East.}
