13 Years Happy

December 29, 2008 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Marriage, Minnesota Me, Special Events 36 Comments

Today is our 13th wedding anniversary.

I would like to say that we are going out for calamari and a movie tonight but alas, I am married to Lawyer Man and it is the end of a very busy fiscal year for his company.

So.

No calamari and no movie.

(If I could go to a movie, I would go see this one. Have you seen it yet?)

Here’s a sad story for you: I had a babysitter all lined up for tonight and my husband told me NO. Certainly he worded it more tactfully than that, but the fact remains that we’ll be staying in on our anniversary. No calamari and no…

“Why did we get married at the end of the year?” I complained.

“Because I couldn’t wait to have you?” he offered.

Okay, so it’s answers like that one that keep me laughing. It’s learning to give when you feel like taking, and saying “no” to the little things because you’ve said “yes” to the biggest.

It’s a lifetime together and that is better than any single evening out. It’s an endless blend of days and ways; it’s a marriage; it’s a family.

Happy Anniversary, Honey! You are my beloved, my best friend, my better half, my spouse…

…and I thank God for you.

PS. I’m taking a rain check on that movie.

Happy Anniversary! Ours was Saturday. Good time of year to get married, but yes, unless it falls on a weekend, we don’t do much!

Happy Anniversary – lucky 13th. We celebrated 12 on Saturday, but like you didn’t do much but wish our Christmas visitors off on the road (which, after a week, did seem a bit like a celebration! Shhh…)

Did you know it’s snowing on your background?

Happy anniversary to you both! Ours is New Year’s Day (14 years!), and we haven’t been out to celebrate since Brenna was born. It doesn’t matter. It’s the togetherness that counts, not where the together happens!

I knew there were a lot of anniversaries this month, I remember that last year and was excited to start a blog this year and be included in those photos of young brides!!!

Happy anniversary!! I understand that busy time for sure and every year I ask “why did we get married at such a busy time of year?” The answer: to slow us down if only for a night.

Your night to celebrate will come I’m sure!! Blessings on your beautiful Sacrament! Happy Anniversary!

I’m betting that snuggling with your honey on a cold Minnesota night is way better than a movie. Even one with Brad Pitt. Happy Anniversary darlin’!

Happy Anniversary, Margaret. Some of our best dates are the ones spent at home, hope you find that, too.

Ours in on the 31st – 14 years. My hubby always said that getting married on the last day of the year was a lot of fun, but it sure didn’t help us out tax-wise! Few of our anniversaries have been spent alone, but they have been memorable.

Happy Anniversary! The anniversary of our engagement is the 31st – 13 yrs. ago – we celebrate anything and everything around here! 🙂 Of course, almost all of our celebrations happen at home – it isn’t easy to find a sitter for my special boys unless Grandma is available…

    Blessings on you both!

    Happy anniversary!

My parents’ anniversary generally falls on Memorial Day weekend–it’s almost impossible for them to get a hotel or anything. So they watch a movie at home and snuggle and we pretend to be grossed out. 🙂

    P. S. I love your dress.

Happy Anniversary! May you have your best married year yet!

Totally see “Slumdog Millionaire” when you get a chance – such a good movie with a good story. Don’t read up on it because you don’t want to know anything about it – but it is so worth it.

    Happy New Year too!

Happy Birthday Margaret! Just Joking!! I seem to mess up whenever I try to congratulate you LOL.

Anyways, we LOVE LOVE LOVE calamari too, so I share your pain! And haven’t heard of the movie yet, but am going to watch the trailer now.

Have a very blessed New Year and hope you two are able to go out on the town sometime soon!

Congratulations and happy anniversary! We’ve had ones where we’ve had to stay in, and ones where I drove my husband home from the hospital in an ice storm after he injured his ankle in a train station…we’ve had all kinds! Enjoy the rain check 🙂

Congrats! I totally understand the busy husband thing. My tax man hubby and I celebrated our 15th at our dd soccer game 2 1/2 yrs ago, it was the only evening we saw him before bed. Most of our special days are celebrated on the Sunday nearest the event – but I’m not complaining 🙂

Happy Anniversary, Margaret! We had our 26th on the 26th! Last year's big Silver Anniv. never quite got off the ground (that end-of-year business), so this year we're escaping MN to sunny FL! Leaving Wed. – got 2 sitters for the kiddos & a million worries that things will be well at home…
