This is a stuff and nonsense post. If you’re looking for a cadre of deep thoughts, do move on. This is just what we’ve been up to.
Our Minnesota weather matches my mood today—storm clouds & high winds one minute, sunshiny skies & light breezes the next.
I blame this guy.
I know you already know all about him. He’s been on TV for what? At least a decade? Well, you gotta know that anything televised takes at least a century to reach me. I’m…behind the times that way.
I do, however, read the newspaper! (My saving grace?) And thus, having seen an interview with this Walsh guy on the social ills and emotional & physiological hazards of clutter, I decided to check his book out. (Me & about a thousand other people, it would seem.)
I got the book (after a three-month wait in our library’s queue) and got inspired:
And this is just from under my bed!
(Not really. Much of it is from our basement and includes a lot of baby clothes. I refuse to talk about that right now. Don’t make me go there, please.)
Again, I blame that Walsh guy. Dang him for making me clean my basement and deal with all this emotional baggage! It’s June! I should be boating!
So yeah. We’re buried in the basement and grousing in the garage. Houston, we’ve got stuff.
Don’t believe me? Here’s another photo that ought to scar convince you:
Those rockers look kind of tempting, don’t they? I’m thinking I just may sit for a spell. I’m thinking, until next fall.
I’ll leave you with one last funny. If you shop IKEA, and I know that at least some of you do, you’ll appreciate the humor.
All for the glory and feeling thankful for His grace,
PS. My CVBS post is still up-and-coming, should you be interested. It’s long & unwieldy. I need more time.

Ohhh Margaret, my soul sister. I’ve begun a huge decluttering too. For the past week, a scary to-go pile has been growing in my laundry room. Today I tackled the piles of books and magazines on my living room table. Clear now, but I have such a long way to go. It’s daunting, isn’t it?
Wish I could sit a spell in those rockers with you!

Four months until the move, and I’m seriously evaluating the usefulness of most of my stuff, too. 🙂 Then again, we’re looking at much bigger houses, and I’d hate to rattle around in it. Fortunately, I’m not too big on clutter, anyway, so if I don’t get rid of a darned thing, it won’t be too bad. 🙂
My computer is going wonky on me, too, and I don’t want a new one. The space bar doesn’t work anymore, at least not consistently. Sometimes,it doesn’t space at alland sometimes it spaces toomany times. See? I didn’ tspace correct all these sentences. That’s the wonky computer. The power button doesn’t workall the time, either. Sometimes, I turn it off and it’s still on when I come back three hours later and some times I turn it on and when I come back, it’s still dark.
Why am I telling you all this? No reason. Stream of consciousness. Or something.

It’s funny, I keep hearing about everyone’s de-cluttering, and we’re in the process of working on acquiring more (not so easy for me).
Actually, Margaret, your garage doesn’t look so bad. Good for you, and I’m with Lissa – I’d love to sit in one of those rockers with you while our kids play together on your driveway. 🙂

This book has been read and reread over the past several months at our house. We are currently going through our third round of decluttering, and suddenly our 1800square foot house doesn’t seem so small.
I think the most helpful bit in this book is the attitude shift. It has definitely caused me to start being a lot more grateful for what we have instead of worrying about what we don’t have room for that (I think) we need. Truly an eye opener!

Funny! We just went to IKEA to get a cheap-o table and shelving. The cartoon illustrates exactly how I feel about my purchases!

That IKEA ad is hilarious.
Aslynn proudly tells everyone on the phone, “Dad built us a new couch.” 🙂
