Isn’t that an awesome name for a moms’ group? The Miracle of Motherhood.
Well, ain’t it the truth.
sweet mom, sweet mom, sweet mom, surly mom pretending to be sweet
Thank you so, so much for your prayers today. The talk that I gave was an hour north of town and this suburban mom was a little nervous about getting through the parking lot that’s rush hour traffic. I made great time on the highway thanks to my leaden foot and the grace of this cd, and arrived a half an hour before anyone else did!
(Except for that nice little old lady in the kitchen, who showed me the lay of the land—I mean, the church—and most importantly, the restroom.)
According to the church bulletin, all moms are welcome to attend this group. Free daycare was provided in the church basement—and what a gorgeous church it was!—and there was a bevy of snacks laid out on one of the tables.
There were also lots of babies. : ) : ) : )
The women themselves were so sweet and so very accommodating. For example, even though I made a few mistakes during my oration, they only threw two rotten kiwis to express their displeasure (or was it three?) I was so appreciative of that.
The title of my talk was “Seven Simple Sacramental Tips for being a Sweeter Wife and a Saner Mom,” not that I am proficient in either of those areas. Like I said, they’re simple tips—helpful even for a beginner like me!
And what is it with me and the letter “S?”
Anyway, what’s that you say? What are these tips, you’re wondering? Well, if you’d like to know have me come speak for your moms’ group! Or you could come here and ply me with chocolate and coffee.
That has been known to work, as well.

Yes, I’d like to know. How soon can you be here? My beloved sent me THREE boxes of truffles for Valentine’s Day, and I always have plenty of coffee. 🙂

Wahoo, Margaret! I’m so glad to hear it went beautifully. And I should say too, I’m not surprised in the least!

Thank you so much for coming to our group today to speak . . . it was truly a blessing. On the day before Valentine’s, it was the perfect message for all us moms.
Angie says
I’m glad that the talk went well! Too bad I don’t live closer — I would love to hear your talk!
Ouiz says
Those of us in SC would LOVE to hear your talk… AND we can promise you warmer weather to boot!
Sarah Jane says
Congrats! Congrats! I’m only disappointed you don’t have a copy of your speech. At least a CD? Anyway, will I know you, O cosmopolitan Mom, when I visit? Love and prayers!
Jill says
I would love to hear you speak. If your speaking is anything like your writing, I would be entertained for hours on end. Maybe you could make a ‘book on tape’ for those of us who don’t live near you!
Jen says
Do I need to pay for travel expenses? We’d love to have you come talk here!
Jen says
Oh, and that St. Therese Rosary CD totally rocks. I love it!
Paula in MN says
I wish I had been there!

I am glad to hear that your little talk went well. Seems like you had a wonderful day.
Margaret … you are a tiny little thing. How did I miss this trait of yours?
Jamie says
Good job on the talk. Sounds like a great topic. You are invited here anytime, would you give a talk in a home with crazy kids running all around? 1 hour north, must have been pretty close to me, I think I know where you were! Glad you made it home safely, with the snow!!
Happy St Valentine’s Day!! You are sweet, I don’t think you even need to try to be that!!
Jen says
You know, I’d invite you here, but I don’t think you’d make it through all the blessed snow we’ve accumulated this winter. Hmmmm, Iowa. As my MN cousins say…idiotic IA. (granted, that was when we were little kids, but still it fits)
I’ll keep you in mind for a Springier weather time ;o)

Hello I am a friend of Jamies. She told me about your site and I am hooked, line and sinker on your blog! I love all the catholic blogs out there but you are on my favorites bar. If you are up to visit Jamie tell her to give me a call.
Tracy says
It’s our turn to have you – would you speak to an audience of one? I’ll let you hold the baby!
Kristen Laurence says
Congratulations, Margaret. I love the idea of a cd on the talk. Though, I wonder if our weather can’t persuade you to come. I don’t eat much chocolate, but I’ll have it stocked for your visit! 🙂

I’m so glad your talk went well, though I’m not surprised. 🙂 I suppose the Great Northwest is just a little bit of a stretch for you to come here :)— maybe you’ll be able to make a copy of it on cd – I know plenty of us would love to hear it!
The temperatures there are absolutely nuts this year! I’ll be praying cabin fever doesn’t set in too bad – I’m glad you had a bit of a break on V-day…

The weather’s better here in Ohio, but I’m guessing you won’t be in our neck of the woods anytime soon. 🙁
Ah, well, maybe you could Skype a talk? I mean, a cd or a podcast are possibilities too, but Skype could be real-time. What say you? 🙂
