It’s Occurred to Me

April 13, 2007 by Minnesota Mom Filed Under: Blogging, Minnesota Me 3 Comments

That maybe by being “humble” I am also being ungrateful.

And so I would like to say thank you to whoever nominated me for this.

To tell you the truth, I would rather be the best homeschooling mom.

Or the best encourager.

Or the best Super-Homeschooler.

Because those are the qualities to which—perhaps laughably—I aspire.

But if I can make you smile on a day when you feel like crying?

Well, that’s no small nomination.

PS. Voting ends today. Many of my very favorite homeschooling mommies are neck-and-neck (or blog-to-blog, as it were), which just goes to show that I have impeccable taste. : )

Oh, and I totally agree with everything Alice says here.

Thank you, dear Margaret, and I’d like to take a moment to say that your worthy goals are those to which we all aspire … with or without awards, sweetie. 🙂

Dear, funny Margaret, you are so brutally honest—I love it! You admit to the feelings that all of us have but would never say, which is the best encouragement of all.

Your blog would have been on more of those lists if I had ever gotten around to nominating. That’s what happens when your most faithful readers are procrastinators. Too busy reading and laughing to do anything constructive, I admit.

But your humor is a gift and one that you share well. All of us are the absolute best homeschool moms to our particular kids and situations (God wouldn’t have it any other way), anyone can be a great encourager if they care enough to try, and pretty much anyone could be an incredible super-homeschooler, if they were willing to put in the effort and time.

But not everyone can be funny.

Laughter is a soothing balm to a weary soul, it is the perfume that attracts one friend to another, it is the cord that binds us together and lifts us toward Heaven in the toughest of times.

You have that gift. And you share it. Wow. I would definitely say that it was no small nomination.

And to be named to a list next to Danielle Bean—what more do I need to say?

So, be wise and thoughtful and insightful and loving, but please, keep us ROTFLOHO, Hon. We all need it and we’ll keep coming back.

    Love you.
(PS Hope I wasn’t too overly dramatic here. I know you didn’t mean for me to go overboard. I can’t help it—you are just that amazing.)

May God bless and keep you both. You are my sweet cyber-buddys, always there to encourage & inspire & remind me of all that’s most important.

Diane, I meant it when I said that I want you to say a few words at my funeral! 🙂 You are something else, and I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart for this comment of comments.
