It’d been years since we went to the Easter vigil and I don’t think the kids realized what was in store for them. (Nine readings…several baptisms…lots & lots & lots of music…)
You’re wondering, perhaps, how they held up?
Well, here is your proof that 2 and a half hours later, we were still smiling!
(Except for George. He was dazed and confused.)
Now we are home and all I have to say is…
Comments! Chocolate! Cocktails! Blogs!
Are you as excited as I am?
Praying you and your dear family have a Happy and Blessed Easter Season.
Alleluia!
The Easter Vigil's my favourite Mass. I'm glad you all enjoyed it.
You have a lovely family. And all so nicely dressed too 🙂 It looks like Mary is blessing your son (or poking him in the ear, but I'm sure she's too good to do that!)
Happy Easter, dear Margaret!! You made it!
Love that PJPII appears to be a smiling member of your family too 🙂
XOXO
Happy Easter, Margaret! I've missed you and your lovely family!
Welcome back!!
Sarah: Ever the solicitous mother, Mary is tucking a stray lock of my son's hair back in place.
Happy Easter, everyone!!!
Happy Easter, Margaret!!!!
Beautiful photo. Such a lovely family. Mine made it through two hours of vigil (they only did 5 readings) but we didn't stop for a photo op because Anthony had just woken up and was getting quite quite hungry. So it was home to pajamas, hot cross buns and bed.
Happy Easter Margaret!!
Your family looks absolutely beautiful all dressed up! Nice work, Mom!
Have a glorious Easter, dear friend!
I guess I shouldn't start off Easter with jealousy—but 9 readings? We only got 5! And a fire alarm. Happy Easter! Everyone looks wonderful!
Happy Easter, Margaret!! I am so glad your Lenten blog fast has concluded!!! 🙂
Happy and blessed Easter to you and your lovely family, Margaret. Lovely, lovely picture!
Happy Easter!
Happy Easter – He is risen indeed!
Happy Easter to you and yours!!!
I am afraid I would be looking like little George after Easter vigil…I am NOT an evening/night person 🙁
You all look beautiful!! Happy Easter!!!
You are a brave lady to go to the Easter Vigil….Holy Thursday was long for my littles!!!
I've missed you.
(had to leave 2 comments to celebrate you)
Yes!!! Glad you are back! The family picture is beautiful!!! Happy Easter!
Happy Easter, dear Margaret!
Happy Easter! I am a fairly new blogger but I think I just realized from the photo that we go to the same church! Fr. Dufner is wonderful! Great picture!
What a beautiful family picture! I have missed reading your blog and am glad you'll be back!
Happy Easter Margaret! Your family is lovely! And spring is finally reaching Minnesota (and Iowa!). Gload to "see" you again!
For the first time in my 8 years in the Catholic Church I sadly did not attend the vigil. I was in bed before our 3 hour service (including 20 baptisms and 50 confirmations) was over.
I did make it to the Holy Thursday and Good Friday services though, and hope to attend the entire Triduum next year.
Happy Easter!!
Happy Easter, Margaret!
I just finished my blog post about the Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday from a church musician's experience. It's interesting to read your perspective and those of your followers about the Easter Vigil.

My husband and I got to go to Easter Vigil by ourselves this year (which was like the best Easter gift EVER) but your photo gives me great hope that we will all be able to go as a family in years ahead. I loved seeing the families with small children in the pews as well and was impressed at how well most of them held up – there is so much excitement at the Vigil if they can manage to stay awake!
Happy Easter, Margaret! Your family photo is just beautiful! I love the girls' matching dresses.
We didn't even think about taking ours to the Easter Vigil. We didn't even take all of them to Holy Thursday and Good Friday. On Holy Thursday my husband took the 3 oldest and on Good Friday I took them. The 3 and 1 year olds stayed home. 🙂 Then we all went on Easter Sunday, which was tough because we had to get there 30 minutes early to get a seat and Anthony has entered the phase of being really, really difficult at Mass. It was still glorious!
Glad you are back!
Janet
Happy Easter. So glad to have you back.
Beautiful pic of your family. Love Divine Mercy. Love seeing Pope John Paul II.
ahh. yes. the chocolate has been divine.
